BRIEF HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL
The Muslim Community College of Health Science and Technology was funded by Muslim Student Society Funtua Area Council in 1999 as an affiliate to Islamic Foundation School of Health Technology Kaduna. It is an upgrade of the Nursing Auxiliary Training Programme earlier started and run by Muslim Student Society of Nigeria (M.S.S.N)
The school was first accredited provisionally by the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria to train female certificate holder in Community Health in the year 2000 while full accreditation for Diploma was granted in 2003. The initial temporary site of the school was Family Support Clinic later relocated to Girls Vocational Training Center of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa’ikamatis Sunnanh along Zaria Road, Funtua Later on, the Funtua Local Government Authority under the Chairmanship of Alh. Lawal Osman Funtua, donated the present permanent site in 2003.
The school also introduced additional Diploma and Certificate Programs in Environmental Health affiliated to Shehu Idris College of Health Science, Makarfi in 2005. The West African Health Examination Board (WAHEB) later accredited the program in 2013. The Dental Therapy Technicians, Dental Surgery Assistance courses and Health Information Technician were introduced and approved by their respective Regulatory Boards in 2014.
The School has further introduction Medical Laboratory Technician Diploma Program which was accredited in 2016. The Biomedical Engineering (Diploma and Certificate Courses) were affiliated to ABU Teaching Hospital, Zaria (ABUTH) in 2017.
